In this live event, Prof Beake will introduce the challenge posed by much higher creep in nanoindentation tests at the highest temperatures and show how improved experiment design and analysis can be used to produce reliable data even at >1000 °C.
About The Speakers
After postdoctoral study at Hull, Nottingham and UMIST in 1999 Ben joined Micro Materials where he has been Director of Materials Research since 2006. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Mining and Minerals, a past Chairman of the Institute of Physics Tribology Group and is currently a Visiting Professor at Manchester Metropolitan University and at the Universities of Leeds and Huddersfield.
He is very active in collaborative research with other NanoTest users (over 140 published papers), particularly in developing novel nano-mechanical test methods and applying them to study mechanical and tribological properties of thin films and coatings.
