From this webinar you will learn:
-
The scope and current use of mechanical joint simulation for the introduction of hip, knee, and other joint replacements
-
The benefit of modern representative approaches including patient-derived kinematics, daily living routines, and in situ degradation
- Utility of testing platforms in going beyond ‘bearing wear’ for assessment of real-world failure scenarios
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Dr Rob Beadling is an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering, University of Birmingham. His research concerns tribology, the preclinical assessment of medical devices, and in situ assessment of material degradation. Mechanical joint simulation is a gateway technology for the safe introduction of medical devices, but current standards provide limited actionable data on real-world performance. He has over 20 publications and has received funding from EPSRC, EU MSCA, and industry.
