Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) is a phenomenon that occurs at the interface of media with different refractive indices. SPR detects refractive index change with high sensitivity. This optical-based real-time detection method delivers superior results across diverse categories of research, including life science, drug discovery, electrochemical analysis, food safety, environmental science, and chemical sensor development. When SPR is combined with other techniques such as electrochemistry or gas, it allows one to obtain new insight about these metal-solution or membrane-gas interfacial processes, enabling new applications and technology development in biosensor research.

Dr Shijie Wu, Biosensing Instrument
Dr Wu is an Application Scientist at Biosensing Instrument. Has over 15 years of experience developing applications of award-winning technologies and an author of over 100 peer reviewed publications/application notes and 2 books. He has a PhD in Physical Chemistry from University of Guelph and BS in Chemistry from Nankai University.
Dr Rand Ismaeel , Zepler Institute for Photonics and Nanoelectronics, University of Southampton
Dr Ismaeel is a research fellow in the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton. She obtained her MSc (Laser and Optoelectronics Engineering) from Al Nahrain University (Baghdad), and her PhD in Optoelectronics from the Optoelectronics Research Centre in 2015. Her main research interests involve working on the fabrication of devices and sensors based on optical fibres and microfibers and on the design and fabrication of rare earth doped scintillating fibres.
