How to identify the optimal plasma treatment time for different surfaces

Good adhesion between surfaces is of key importance for products from various industries. Typically, the polarity of a surface increases when treated with plasma, which leads to a better adhesion with the most adhesives. However, when a surface is treated for too long, its starts disintegrating, diminishing its adhesive properties. To guarantee good adhesion, the optimal plasma treatment time of the involved surfaces needs to be properly studied and understood.

In this webinar, Dr Sebastian Schaubach, CIO at DataPhysics Instruments, a German manufacturer of laboratory measurement devices, will show you:

  • how to measure the force of adhesion using a force tensiometer with an additional camera.
  • how to analyse 3D-profiles of sample surfaces to closer evaluate disintegration processes at the sample surfaces.
  • how to interpret results to define the optimal plasma treatment time for different polymeric surfaces, such as a paraffin-coated polyethylene film and a substrate with a thick polyfluorinated coating
