In this event Dr Ben Beake will show that nanomechanical testing can reveal how microstructure and environment influence the behaviour of biomaterials, and how to use this information to develop biomaterials with improved properties.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
After postdoctoral study at Hull, Nottingham and UMIST in 1999 Ben joined Micro Materials where he has been Director of Materials Research since 2006. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Mining and Minerals, a past Chairman of the Institute of Physics Tribology Group and is currently a Visiting Professor at Manchester Metropolitan University and at the Universities of Leeds and Huddersfield.
He is very active in collaborative research with other NanoTest users (over 175 published papers), particularly in developing novel nano-mechanical test methods and applying them to study mechanical and tribological properties of thin films and coatings.
