Fretting fatigue of overhead conductors

This talk will not only introduce the fretting fatigue problem in overhead conductors, but also provide more recent approaches to design against it.

About The Speakers

Full Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Brasilia (2002). His research interests involve the modeling, simulation, and experimental characterization of: (i) fretting fatigue/fretting wear, (ii) multiaxial fatigue, (iii) fracture mechanics and (iv) contact mechanics. Professor Araújo got his PhD in Engineering Sciences from the University of Oxford (2000). He is a founding member of the Committee of Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Affiliated Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. He published more than 120 articles in International Journals, holds a h index 28 and has supervised some tens of PhD and MSc students. Professor Araújo recently has written a Chapter on “Fretting Fatigue” for the second edition of the celebrated Comprehensive Structural Integrity Series. He has provided keynote lectures in a number of recent International Conferences as ICMFF13, ICMFF12 and K-Trib 2020. In the last 5 years his research has been supported by different industrial partners as Safran Aircraft Engines, SBM Offshore, TBE, etc. He was the coordinator of the Graduate Course in Mechanical Sciences of the University of Brasília and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the same institution.
